What we collect and why
When you contact us
If you email, phone or WhatsApp us, we receive what you choose to give us: usually your name, phone number, email address, company and details of the work you need. We use it to answer you, to prepare a quote if you ask for one, and to carry out any work that follows.
Giving us this information is voluntary. Without a way to reach you, we cannot reply.
When you use the website
The website is hosted by Vercel. Like any web host, Vercel receives your IP address, browser type, the page you asked for and the time, so that it can deliver the page and protect the site from abuse.
We use PostHog to understand how the website is used. If you accept analytics cookies, PostHog records the pages you visit, how you arrived (for example from a search engine), your device and browser type, your approximate location worked out from your IP address, and when you click our phone, email or WhatsApp links. PostHog stores a random identifier in a cookie so that it can recognise your browser on later visits. It does not record what you type.
If you decline, PostHog sets no cookies. It stores only your choice, in your browser’s local storage, so that we do not ask again. It still counts the visit, using an identifier its servers work out from your IP address and browser details that changes every day and cannot be reversed.
Analytics is voluntary. Declining makes no difference to what you can do on the site.
Cookies and browser storage
Nothing is stored in your browser until you choose Accept or Decline in the cookie banner. You can change your choice at any time with “Cookie preferences” at the bottom of every page, or by clearing your browser’s cookies for this site.

Links to WhatsApp, Facebook and Google Maps take you to those services, which set their own cookies under their own privacy policies.
Who we share it with
We share personal information only with service providers that process it for us, and where the law requires us to:
- PostHog, for website analytics. We use its EU cloud, so analytics data is stored in the European Union.
- Vercel, which hosts the website. Vercel is based in the United States and serves the site from data centres around the world.
- WhatsApp (Meta), if you message us there. WhatsApp handles your messages under its own terms.
- Our email and telephone service providers, which carry your messages to us.
We do not sell personal information.
Information sent outside South Africa
Website analytics is processed in the European Union, where the General Data Protection Regulation gives protection comparable to POPIA. Hosting data is processed by Vercel in the United States and elsewhere, under terms that require Vercel to keep it secure and confidential. We rely on these protections and, for analytics, on your consent, as section 72 of POPIA allows.
How long we keep it
We keep enquiries for as long as we need them to deal with you, and longer only where a law requires it, such as tax and company-records laws. Analytics cookies expire after at most 12 months. Analytics data is kept only as long as it helps us understand how the website is used.
How we protect it
The website is served only over an encrypted connection (HTTPS). Only the people who need to deal with your enquiry, or to look after the website, can see the information.
Your rights
Under POPIA you may:
- ask whether we hold personal information about you, and for a copy of it
- ask us to correct, or to delete, information that is wrong, out of date or that we should no longer keep
- object to us processing your information
- withdraw your consent to analytics, using “Cookie preferences”
- complain to the Information Regulator
To use any of these rights, email info@quebar.co.za marked for the attention of the Information Officer. We may ask you to confirm your identity before we act, and we will respond within 30 days.
The Information Regulator
If you are not satisfied with how we have handled your personal information, you can complain to the Information Regulator (South Africa).
